New PS4 Update News: Sony Working on New PlayStation 4 Version, Allows Beta Testing for MVP Program Users

As far as the ongoing console war is concerned, it seems to be a close call between Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the Redmond-based tech has certainly done better compared to its Japanese rival Sony in terms of updates.

According to Tech Radar, although Sony has not been performing badly, now the company is said to be working on a new PS4 update. Moreover, it is the first time that the Japanese tech manufacturer will be allowing the users to test the update before its final release.

Polygon reports that people who are in the PlayStation MVPs program have already received emails inviting them to beta test the upcoming PS4 software update.

While Microsoft has been undertaking the same initiative with its frequent Xbox One updates via an official Preview Program, allowing its users to beta test the new update will be something that Sony is doing for the first time.

It seems that the PlayStation 4 update will comprise 60-frames-per-second (FPS) "Share Play" gameplay recording - a latest suspend feature that will put the console to sleep, but allow the user to recommence his/ her game right from where they left off, in addition to other facilities.

Currently, the PlayStation 4 is limited to just 30FPS recording, and present "rest mode" of the console quits all games as well as apps that are running before it goes to sleep. Hence, the changes will definitely be welcomed by the users.

The report further says that purported leaked emails from Sony suggests that some users in the PlayStation MVPs program will be provided with the opportunity to participate in the PS4 firmware version 2.50 beta program till March 9.
