New 'Lego Movies’ Release Date, News: Warner Bros. Confirms 'Lego Batman', 'Lego Ninjago', & 'Lego Movie' Sequel Debuts

Warner Bros. Entertainment has released three LEGO movie sequels starting with a spin-off 'LEGO Batman'. The spin-off movie, still untitled, is expected to be launched on February 10, 2017 in the US.

"We are very excited about dating our upcoming Lego animated features, which already have a worldwide fan following, built on the first film," President of Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution, Dan Fellman, said. The Lego Batman spin-off will be followed by Lego Ninjago for a September 22, 2017 release and sequel to The Lego Movie will be released in May 18, 2018.

Since the release dates are official, no official casting has been made known. But Will Arnett is expected to return playing as the guttural Christian Bale voiced Batman. Meanwhile, Ninjago has been pushed for later production due to additional work. It had been slated a 2016 release but it will debut a year later.

It was remembered that in the first Lego movie, Chris Pratt voiced the ordinary Lego construction man named Emmet who was prophesied to be the 'Chosen One' by a group of Lego characters named 'Masterbuilders'. Emmet and the Masterbuilders aim to beat tyrant CEO 'Lord Business' from gluing all Lego pieces and characters in their universe. It was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

The movie was nominated for Best Original Song in the 2015 Academy Awards for 'Everything is Awesome' and other awards from different award-giving bodies all over the world. Many fans were taken aback when the Academy ignored the movie to be part of the nominations for Best Animated Feature. Yet, the movie had sky-high sales for $468.7 million worldwide the year it was released.

The movie ended with a possible opening to the Lego Movie sequel when 'Duplo' characters beam down from an alien spaceship claiming to destroy the world.
