New Holiday Albums 2014: Idina Menzel, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans Release New Christmas Music
Numerous musical acts such as Idina Menzel, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans and more, are releasing holiday albums perfect for those who are looking for new music this coming holiday season.
Menzel, known for singing "Let It Go" from the animated film 'Frozen', released "Holiday Wishes." It contained her version of Christmas classics, such as "Do You Hear What I Hear?," "Silent Night" and a duet version of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Michael Buble.
Several other solo artists will be releasing their own Christmas albums this year.
Country singer Darius "Hootie" Rucker and his album will also feature a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Sherly Crowe. The album also has the songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Sara Evans and "At Christmas" will showcase songs such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" with a contemporary twist, "Run Rudolph Run," "O Come All Ye Faithful," and more.
Other solo acts gearing up for a holiday release are Renee Fleming with "Christmas in New York," Anthony Hamilton with "Home for the Holidays;" LeAnn Rimes with "One Christmas;" and Heart with "Heart & Friends: Home for the Holidays."
Duo act John Schneider and Tom Wopat from "The Dukes of Hazard" will be releasing "Home for Christmas." It will contain their version of the song "Blue X-Mas" by Bob Dorough.
An album based on the period drama television show 'Downton Abbey' will also be released. The album titled Christmas at Downton Abbey will have the participation of cast members Jim Carter, Julian Ovenden and Elizabeth McGovern.
Other musical releases are "Christmas in the City" by Elizabeth Chan; "Holiday" by Earth, Wind and Fire; "Christmas With Nashville" by the cast of ABC's series 'Nashville', and more.
Some early holiday releases have also ranked on the top 10 of Billboard's top 200.
"That's Christmas To Me" by a capella group Pentatonix climbed up to number three on its fifth week. "Christmas" by Michael Buble, which was released in 2011, have appeared on the charts against at number nine in its 33rd week. Menzel's "Holiday Wishes" also jumped up to a number 10 spot in its sixth week.
