New Harry Potter Short Story Release Date: New Book Featuring Dolores Umbridge to Release on Halloween

J.K. Rowling, the famous author of the 'Harry Potter' series is giving fans a huge treat this coming Halloween with a new Potter based short story set to release on the Pottermore website on October 31.

The 1700-word backstory will center on the conniving evil Hogwarts professor Dolores Umbridge (played in the films by Imelda Staunton) who tortured Harry Potter by ordering a Dementor attack on him as well as forcing him to write "I must not tell lies" repeatedly using a Blood Quill as a punishment.

Furthermore, the website reads, "The new exclusive JK Rowling content provides a rich, 1700-word back story about Umbridge's life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling's revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character."

The story will be "filled with many new details, as well as Rowling's revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character," a spokesman for Rowling stated in an interview with Mirror.

Dolores, who was the former Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, debuted in the fifth book of the 'Harry Potter' series, 'Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix'.

The well-mannered "pink-loving" professor made an impact in the series as "not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, but more importantly being one of the two people to have left a permanent physical scar on the teenage wizard," stated the Pottermore website.

Pottermore is a fan website launched by Rowling herself back in 2011 dedicated to bring the adventures of Harry Potter to the digital generation.

As it stands, Rowling has released two other short stories on the website. One of them showcases the backstory of another character, "singing sorceress" Celestina Warbeck, while the other depicts adventures of a 33-year old Harry Potter.

Rowling is also currently writing a screenplay for the upcoming fantasy movie set 70 years before Harry enters Hogwarts-it is based on a Hogwarts textbook written by "Harry Potter" character and "magizoologist" Newt Scamander.

'Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them' is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
