New CW Animated Series 'Vixen' News: DC Superhero Syncs with 'Arrow' Universe

Along with the big moves the CW has been making in expanding their personal DC universe, they've just announced the arrival of a new animated series starring the heroine, Vixen.

Just like the superhero, the show will be title 'Vixen', and will be the CW's first animated superhero venture. The show will air on the network's personal digital platform called CW Seed, meaning we can expect to see it on the web in one way or another.

The character has only been featured minimally on various cartoons, however this will be the first time the heroine will feature in her own project.

The superhero herself isn't as popular a character as some of the other DC hard hitters, but she has a very unique and original design and set of powers.

GeekTyrant provides a short excerpt on the character's background:

"Vixen, a.k.a. Mari McCabe, is a superhero who is an orphan from Africa. Her parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and shameless violence. She inherited her family's Tantu Totem, and with it, she can access the powers of animals - from the super-strength of a gorilla, to the speed of a cheetah. The hero fights to protect the world from evil threats, the same threats that claimed the lives of her family."

The special thing about the series is that it will exist in the already expanding 'Arrow' universe. The Green Arrow, and The Flash have both been confirmed to appear on the show, and events in both their corresponding shows will all be linked.

However, a live action adaptation for Vixen has not been confirmed to appear on 'Arrow' yet. Perhaps if the show does well this can be a possibility.

On that note, the show is being developed by the producer of 'Arrow', Marc Guggenheim, and a release date for the series has not yet been confirmed.
