New Apple Watch Price Breakdown: What's the Cost of Each Apple iWatch Model?
When various reports suggested that the Apple Watch will have a starting price of $349, it was obvious that the first-ever wearable device from the Cupertino-based tech giant will not come cheap. In fact, this was proven when the company's CEO Tim Cooks launched the much-anticipated smartphone at the company's "Spring Forward" even in San Francisco, California, on Monday, March 9.
Tech Radar reports that Cook also revealed the price of each Apple Watch model along with the pre-order date and release date information, both of which are slated for April.
In fact, there are 38 different Apple Watch designs and with so many versions, it can really be somewhat confusing to remember the precise price of each model. Nevertheless, you have time until April to decide which model you wish to purchase.
Here we present you with the prices and some specs of three main editions of the Apple Watch - the Sport Edition, Apple Watch Edition (low-end) and the gold Apple Watch Edition.
Apple Watch Sport Edition
The Apple Watch Sport model is the entry-level smartwatch from Apple. It comes with an aluminum case, Ion-X glass over the display and a rubber-like fluoroelastomer band.
This device will cost $349 (£299, AU$499) for the 38mm size (measurement according to height), while the 42mm size will come for a little more at $399 (£339, AU$579). The Apple Watch Sport model comes in five colors options and in the two sizes. So there are ten models to choose from.
The Sport Band itself costs $49 (£39, AU$79), and it comes in a number of color options - white, blue, green and pink for the bands with a silver casing. In addition, there is an almost-all-black version; it has a black band and a unique space gray casing.
Apple Watch Edition (Low-End)
If you are looking for a more affordable Apple Watch you may opt for the Apple Watch Edition (low-end) that go for the limited-edition Apple Watch Edition that is made of 18-karat gold. It comes in eight extravagantly priced models.
The "cheapest" Apple Watch Edition is the 38mm size with an rose gold case and White Sport Band, as well as the yellow gold case with a Black Sport Band, both available for $10,000 (£8,000, AU$14,000).
The 42mm size Apple Watch Edition also comes in the above-mentioned two color configurations and is priced at $12,000 (£9,500 AU$17,000).
Apple Watch Edition (High-End)
If you are willing to spend $15,000 (£12,000, AU$21,000), you can get the 42mm yellow gold case Apple Watch Edition (high-end) with a Black Classic Buckle or the 42mm yellow gold case with a Midnight Blue Classic Buckle.
The Apple Watch Edition (high-end) version does not come in a 38mm size. On the contrary, if you are looking for something smaller, you'll have to choose the more expensive Modern Buckle at that size, and it costs even more.
The 18-karat rose gold case and rose gray modern buckle comes for an incredible $17,000 (£13,500, AU$24,000). You can get the same case with a bright red modern buckle for the same price.
