Netflix TV Schedule News: Bob Odenkirk and David Cross Project Has a Date
The premiere date for W/ Bob & David, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross' new sketch comedy series was announced yesterday by Netflix.
The streaming site announced that the original series will debut on Nov. 13.
With W/ Bob & David, Odenkirk and David Cross aim to recreate the unique brand of comedy that they first showcased in Mr.Show which became a cult classic.
The sketch-based comedic series will feature a multitude of comedians including Paul F. Tompkins, Jill Talley, Jay Johnston, John Ennis, and Brian Posehn. Its format will be four 30-minute episodes.
W/ Bob & David is another step in Netflix's campaign to revive nostalgia television. Arrested Development, which also featured Cross, was given new life on the site when its fourth season was aired in 2013.
An eight-episode prequel series for Wet Hot American Summer also aired on Netflix this past July.
Other sites have jumped onto the pop culture revival train. Nickelodeon also has plans to give some of its classic hits from the '90 a re-airing, as does Fox with The X-Files.
Fans of the surreal cult classic Twin Peaks will be thrilled to know that Showtime will revisit the spooky town, and Muppeteers will also get to say hi to Jim Henson's beloved Muppet crew again.
With the rise of streaming outlets like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.com, niche programs have been able to reach new audiences.
Creators have been freed from ratings worries, allowing them to concentrate on developing new, innovative material, so audiences can look forward to interesting things to come.
