Netflix New Movie Listing News: Netflix Sets Dates For 'Pee-wee's Big Holiday,' 'Crouching Tiger' & More
Netflix has been releasing hordes of original content this year, and since most of the focus in this area is on its serial shows, such as 'Orange is the New Black' and 'House of Cards' it can be easy to forget that the television streaming service is breaking ground in the movie realm as well.
Netflix has recently announced its release dates for some more original content that will be coming out this year.
First on October 16, 'Beasts of No Nation', will make its debut. The film is helmed by Cary Fukunaga, and stars Idris Elba.
It follows the story of an African warlord who has taken on the role of mentoring a child soldier.
On December 11, 'The Ridiculous Six', which also has tons of star power will be released.
The film's cast includes A list names including Adam Sandler, Taylor Lautner and Luke wilson.
During the first quarter of 2016, Netflix will be releasing 'Crouching Tiger', 'Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend', which is the only film on the list that will be released across the globe at the same time.
It will also be released in theaters in China and in IMAX.
The film is being directed by Yuen Wo-Ping, and stars Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen. Finally, 'Pee-wee's Big Holiday' will be coming to Netflix in March 2016.
The film will star Paul Reubens, of course, back in his role as Pee-wee Herman, and the film is being directed by John Lee and produced by Judd Apatow.
For those who do not have Netflix subscriptions, the company is attempting to acquire theater release dates for the films as well, but is running into problems from major theater chains who are reluctant to accept because they will be streaming at the same time.
