Electronic Arts has announced that there is a sequel for Need for Speed in the works, and as most fans can remember, the original movie starred Aaron Paul, and was released last year.
According to Variety, the game company is collaborating with China Movie Channel Program Center, Jiaflix Enterprises and 1905 Pictures to produce a second film in the series, which will take place in China.
According, China Movie Channel's Yin Cao"We are excited to work with [Electronic Arts], one of the world's most recognized creative companies. We are also delighted that much of 'Need for Speed 2' would be filmed in China, and we believe it will include much more Chinese talent and elements."
It does not come as a surprise that Electronic Arts is planning to film the sequel of the movie in China.
The first Need for Speed did very well in the area, earning about 65 million dollars. There has not been any mention of the cast for the film as yet, so it is unclear whether Aaron Paul will be returning to play the lead role.
Aaron Paul fans will have to wait on the edge of their seats until Electronic Arts is ready to release more information about the film.
While critics did not give Need for Speed good ratings, the movie was able to gross more than 200 million dollars worldwide. The only element that may be holding up the creation of Need for Speed 2 is that the rights to the movie are held by Dreamworks currently.
However, Electronic Arts is planning to begin developing at least on sequel this year. The video game's developer Ghost Games is working on a new game for the franchise after taking a year off.
