Veteran actor Muse Watson will be returning to 'NCIS' when the police procedural drama television series on CBS returns for its 13th season this fall.

Quoting a report in CarterMatt, Latin Post states that Watson has confirmed the news recently by posting a photo of his dressing room on social media with the caption, "Home at 'NCIS.' Ok, dressing room trailer." Now it remains to be seen how the show executives plan to ring back Watson's dead Mike Franks character to the show.

Considering the close relationship of Franks with series star Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who was seen fighting for his life after being shot at least twice by a boy he made friends withed and tried to help in Season 12 of the long-running show, speculations are rife that Franks may appear in flashback scenes wherein he encourages his friend to fight for life and recovery.

Moreover, there are speculations that Watson may possibly come back to "fill a similar role in the present," more precisely appearing in dream sequences to talk with Gibbs in an alternate reality or some other kind of illusionary vision.

While filming of 'NCIS' Season 13 is already underway, executives of the network, apparently wary of leaking too many details regarding the vital Gibbs storyline, are virtually keeping all other aspects of production a close secret.

Recently, the 63-year-old Watson signed to return to the show, but terms of the deal were not made public. Even the duration of the actor's contract remains a mystery.

Harmon recently appeared on an episode of 'The Late Show with James Corden' and told the host that the show's "births characters leaving." He added, "It's not my choice, number one, but I think anybody is replaceable."

In 'NCIS' Season 12 finale, fans saw Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Joanna (Mimi Rogers) in Afghanistan hunting the terrorist group responsible for the killing of Agent Dorneget (Matt Jones).

'NCIS' Season 13 is expected to premiere on the CBS sometime in September.
