NBC TV Schedule 2015 News: 'Allegiance' Gets Pulled, Series Replaced by 'The Slap'

After five weeks of airing its new series, NBC is cancelling "Allegiance" due to the show's poor ratings.

For those that may not know, the show was about a character named Alex, played by Gavin Stenhouse. Alex was a rookie CIA analyst whose parents were a part of the KBG. The show also starred Hope Davis, Scott Cohen, Margarita Levieva, Kenneth Choi, Alexandra Peters and Florianna Lima.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Allegiance" was only pulling in 5 million viewers and a 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic. The most recent numbers said that the show was being seen by only 3.4 million viewers and had a 0.8 demographic rating.

With NBC pulling the show, Thursday night's line up will look a little different beginning March 12. "The Slap," another new series, will replace "Allegiance" in the 10 pm hole, and "The Blacklist" will remain in its 9 pm time slot.

"The Slap" is also having its fair share of struggles as TV Line reports that since its launch last month, it has pulled in a total of 5.1 million viewers and 1.1 demographic rating. The last numbers indicate that the viewers dropped to 3.4 million and received a 0.8 demographic rating.

To fill the hole for "The Slap," NBC will air a two hour premiere of "Dateline: The Real Blacklist." Inspired by the network's hit show "The Blacklist," the Dateline version will be hosted by NBC News' Richard Engel. According to TV Line the show will focus on "conspiracy-themed investigations" and "crimes that involve larger-than-life perpetrators and circumstances."

The first hour of "Dateline: The Real Blacklist" will feature the 2006 case of poisoning a Russian spy in Britain. According to Entertainment Weekly, future episodes will feature criminals John McAfree and the Pink Panther Gang.
