NBC Drama Renewal News: 2015's List of Renewed and Cancelled TV Shows
January is always the major premiere television month while February is the month where many shows have season or series finales.
Who doesn't get excited to see which of their favorite shows are staying or a little disappointed if their fave got the axe? Several of the season finales of NBC's will be airing this month.
For the most part, NBC is sticking with the dramas, choosing to renew five for this year.
According to Demanjo, dramas, "The Blacklist," will be returning for a third season and Monday night's "Grimm" will be on for a fifth season. Others that will be back include "Chicago Fire," for a fourth season, "Chicago P.D." for a third season and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" will be back for its 17th season!
It was highly anticipated that "The Blacklist" would be back after it aired in the slot right after this year's big Super Bowl game. After catching the attention of post-football game watchers, it became a top rated show. The show, starring James Spader, will be moving to a Thursday night primetime spot.
As a result of these popular television shows, NBC ranks the top network among the "Big 4" for the demographic of adults ages 18-49.
According to Demanjo, Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment said this was all because, "The creative vision of the executive producers who've guided these outstanding dramas have been nothing short of incredible."
On February 16, NBC will wrap up the first episode of the first season of "State of Affairs," and will also wrap up "The Celebrity Apprentice."
"State of Affairs," will be renewed because it became popular in the United States but also became a hit in Canada and Australia. It was looking shaky for a while for the show and many predicted its cancellation but so far, it's holding on.
It is highly unlikely that "Constantine" will be back for another season. Though its fate was a bit of a wildcard, moving its time slot on Fridays from 10 pm to 8 pm still proved to fail for the series.
It is likely that the season finale will be its last on February 13 according to Comicbook. Beyond that, TV Watch Us states that "About a Boy," is also going to be canned.
According to TV Guide, shows that are airing their series finale this season include "Parenthood," and "Parks and Recreation."
Though it will be hard to see funny lady Amy Poehler leave NBC's small screen, hopefully something funny will come up again and NBC finds more humor to add to the line-up.
