NY Knicks NBA 2014 Trade Rumors, News: Boston Celtics All-Star Rajon Rondo Traded to NY?

In latest NBA trade rumors, the New York Knicks are rumored to have acquired Rajon Rondo from their longtime rivals the Boston Celtics, according to several reports.

The Knicks are among numerous teams including the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets that were also rumored to be trying to obtain the four-time NBA All-Star point guard.

"Listen, my job is to look at all the different ways and pathways for us to be a championship team," said Celtics GM Danny Ainge to the WBZ-FM's 'Toucher & Rich' morning radio show in Boston.

"This is the time of the year that there's a lot of talking and calling that's going on. Part of my job is to explore the variety of ways there are to get us to our next championship. And that's all we're trying to do -- just build a winner."

Ainge also gave his thoughts on what would happen if the possible trade involving Rondo came into fruition.

"I don't know. That's a good question. Rajon has been a big part of our team, not just this year but for the past years, as we know," said Ainge, "We haven't really seen what [rookie guard] Marcus Smart has been able to do yet because he hasn't been healthy; he's got such a shortage of minutes and opportunities to play with the ankle sprain. So it's a good question. I don't think any of us know the answer to that."

Rondo revealed his thoughts regarding the latest rumors that would cause him to leave the only NBA franchise he has played for since his debut in 2006.

"[Trade talk has been] a way of life since I've been here," said Rondo, according to an ESPN report.

"It's just part of it."

According to a SI report, the Knicks are reportedly willing to trade any player except for Carmelo Anthony in order to acquire the one-time NBA champion in 2008, especially New York's shooting guard J.R. Smith.

Recently, "Melo" denied the reports claiming that he himself wanted to be traded from New York due to his team's embarrassing performance on the basketball court for several years.

"Come on, man. After all the work I did to get here and get back here?," said Anthony to reporters.

"If I was to get up and want to leave now that would just make me weak. I've never been a person to try to run from any adversity."

If Rondo is dealt to the Knicks, Anthony hopes the 28-year-old Kentucky native would be one of the final pieces to the championship puzzle that has perplexed the NY franchise since its last NBA title in 1973.
