NBA Trade Rumors Knicks 2015: Phoenix Suns' Goran Dragi? Traded to New York After Carmelo Anthony Announcement?
In latest NBA trade rumors, the New York Knicks are rumored to be trying to acquire Goran Dragi? from the Phoenix Suns, according to several reports.
The Knicks are among numerous teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets that are alleged to be looking to obtain the 28-year-old Slovenian point guard.
"If no trade materializes, Dragi? would head to free agency seeking a four-year max from Lakers or Knicks that could reach $80 million range," wrote ESPN's Marc Stein via Twitter on February 17.
Dragi? revealed his thoughts regarding the latest rumors that would send the seven-year player to the longtime NBA franchise before the NBA trade deadline ends on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 3:00 pm ET.
"Oh yeah, definitely "You know Phil [Jackson], he was a great coach. He won so many titles and he was coaching so many great players that of course it's interesting and I would love working with him," said Dragi? to NY Daily News in December 2014.
"Because probably he's making all the moves - I'm not sure - but he knows what the team needs and what direction the team needs to go. In the past probably, he makes some decisions, who the Lakers bring in and the Chicago Bulls and (he) did an amazing job."
According to a multiple reports, Dragi?'s potential teammate Knicks superstar small forward/power forward Carmelo Anthony will has been ruled out for the rest of the season, after it announced (on February 18) that the eight-time NBA All-Star will have surgery to repair a nagging left knee.
Anthony's last appearance on a NBA court was when he scored only 14 points in 30 minutes at the 2015 NBA All-Star game that took place at MSG on February 15.
If Dragi? does join the Knicks (via a trade or as a result of free agency in the upcoming offseason), he could become one of the final pieces to the championship puzzle that has puzzled the NY franchise since its last NBA title in 1973.
"I think so it's a possibility, but not just New York. I'm a free agent. I want to explore my options but so far I'm really happy in Phoenix. They give me a lot. I like the city. I like the fans and I like the organization, so it's going to be a tough decision to make, but I'm going to start thinking of that at the end of the season," said Dragi? to NY Daily News two months ago.
