NBA Trade Rumors 2014 Latest: LeBron James' Decision to Leave Miami Heat Crucial for Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets have been monitoring LeBron James' decision over his future, and now that he has decided to leave the Miami Heat it could have a big affect on how they move forward.
The reason the Rockets have been keeping an eye on James' movement is that they are trying to get a hold of free-agent Chris Bosh, who's been James' teammate since 2010.
"If James does leave Miami, Chris Bosh's intention is to also leave the Heat. Bosh has been speaking with the Houston Rockets, who are prepared to clear enough cap room to offer him a four-year, $88 million contract," Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski has previously said.
This sounds like a good plan B for Bosh, but things are not that simple. Chandler Parsons has signed an offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks for a three-year deal worth $45 million.
The Rockets will then only have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday to match the offer of the Mavericks or they will lose Parson. This leaves the Rockets with a dilemma. They could match the offer of the Mavericks for Parsons so that they could keep him, but they won't have enough cap space for Bosh, should he leave the Heat.
This is where James' decision comes in. Bosh was unlikely to sign with the Rockets until James made his choice.
Thus, James' decision could spark the fate of two all-star athletes, the Rockets option to match the Mavericks offer for Parsons, and Bosh's signing with the Rockets.
