NBA Trade News, Rumors: Brook Lopez, Miles Plumlee, Pablo Prigioni Looking at Transfers?
The NBA trade deadline is less than a month away, but after the recent Western Conference arms race, and the series of moves made by the Cleveland Cavaliers, things have turned relatively quiet. The murmurings that are still heard, though, involve a couple of big men that could boost any contender's chances.
The Brooklyn Nets' openness to part with center Brook Lopez has been no secret. Earlier talks of Lopez being dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder have died down, but Lopez could still be on the move before the February 19 trade deadline, a Bleacher Report article says.
Lopez is only 26 years old, and is a dependable scoring option down low. He has season averages of 15.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. He also frees up $16.7 million in cap space should the Nets move him.
Another big man is available down in Arizona. ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the Phoenix Suns are actively shopping for Miles Plumlee.
The third-year center has seen his role and minutes diminish for the Suns, who find themselves in a tight race for a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
Plumlee averaged 23.5 minutes back in November, but those numbers have been slashed to 13.5 in January, due to the acquisition of Brandan Wright, and the steady development of 7'2 Alex Len.
League sources say that the Suns are looking to get a future first round pick for Plumlee, who averaged 8.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game last season.
In New York, the rebuilding continues with the Knicks said to be looking to move guard Pablo Prigioni for a second round pick, The Knicks Blog reports.
Just this month, the Knicks have parted with J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Samuel Dalambert.
The 37-year-old Prigioni has played only nine minutes in the Knicks' last four games.
