NBA Trade Deadline 2015 Recap: Goran Dragic's Big Miami Heat Move & More
Most experts pegged the 2015 NBA trade deadline to be a quiet one, however, what transpired was proof that no one can be really certain about it.
Twitter broke down, references to the 'Game of Thrones' "Red Wedding" episode were made, and in the wake of the record-setting 37 players that were moved, it was an 11-trade deadline that was as unexpected as it was unsettling.
The Portland Trail Blazers needed bench help, and they found some in Aaron Afflalo.
The Blazers have needed someone, anyone, to add to the production of Wes Matthews and Nicolas Batum, and they should have their man in Afflalo. Will Barton, Victor Claver, Thomas Robinson were the prices to pay, but for a team with high hopes as the Blazers, the trade should be well worth it.
Andre Miller straight up for Ramon Sessions. Sessions makes the young Wizards even younger; a good trade if you follow that logic.
Kevin Garnett goes back to Minnesota after being traded to Thaddeus Young. No one knows what the Brooklyn Nets are doing, but while he should be helping a playoff team in April, Garnett to the Wolves makes sense for all the young talent they have.
But perhaps the biggest trade that went down with the biggest post-season implications was Goran Dragic and his brother Zoran going to the Miami Heat.
In a three-team trade, the Heat got a lead guard that could be a game-changer, while parting ways with Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, and Shawne Williams (all going to the New Orleans Pelicans), while the Phoenix Suns received Danny Granger, John Salmons, and two first round picks.
Kevin Durant said there was only one guy on the Oklahoma City Thunder that didn't want to be there, and he got his wish. That guy was Reggie Jackson, who is now going to be with the Detroit Pistons.
It was another three-team trade that saw D.J. Augustin, Enes Kanter, Steve Novak, and Kyle Singler going to OKC, while Grant Jerrett, Kendrick Perkins, a first, and second round pick goes to the Utah Jazz.
