NBA News: ESPN Sports Analyst Chris Broussard Discusses His Faith & Current State of the New York Knicks [VIDEO]
Longtime ESPN analyst Chris Broussard recently discussed how his faith in Jesus Christ impacts his daily life when he talked about the current state of the NBA and the worst team in the league: the New York Knicks.
The Christian sports analyst has been one of the most respected NBA insiders in the world since he started his sports writing career with The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio in 1990.
"Every day, when you live as a Christian, every day you try to live for Christ and glorify God," said Broussard to The Gospel Herald at the NBA All-Star Game on February 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. "I try to stay [on an] even keel."
In addition to his faith, Broussard also talked about the dreadful state of one of the teams he used to cover during his days as a New York Times beat writer, the New York Knicks.
"Phil Jackson himself said that he thought they could be a playoff team," said Broussard.
"I thought that they would be in the hunt. The fact that they have won only 10 games is a big disappointment."
The ESPN NBA columnist also talked about the impact of the Knickerbockers hosting the prestigious All-Star game at the 'World's Most Famous Arena' in a season where Knicks fans have not a lot to celebrate on-and-off the court during the 2014-2015 campaign.
"It's obviously great for the city, especially in a season where the [New York Knicks] team has struggled," said Broussard.
"The fans haven't had a lot to look forward to since the first month of the season. It's been very disappointing, so to have the best players in the league come here, it's big for the fans in New York."
Broussard has been a member of the bi-weekly 'ESPN The Magazine' since September 2004.
The 46-year-old Baton Rouge, Louisiana native later offered some advice to anyone who wants to have a better relationship with God no matter the situation.
"Obviously, there are times when you have challenges and struggles, and you lean heavier on your faith," said Broussard.
"I try to do that even in the good times. God has been blessing me in so many ways. Like I said, every day you are just trying to glorify Him."
