NBA Trade 2015 News, Rumors: DeAndre Jordan Leaves Agents; Divac Named GM
DeAndre Jordan had a crazy run at free agency this past summer, and the twists and turns haven't come to a halt just yet as the Los Angeles Times reports that the Los Angeles Clippers center has parted ways with his representatives, Dan Fegan and Jarinn Akana, of Relativity Sports.
According to the report, Jordan informed his agents of his decision to move "in another direction" a few days after the NBA fined the Clippers $250,000 on Aug. 25 for violating rules that prohibit teams from offering players unauthorized business or investment opportunities.
The Clippers were found to commit the violation on July 2 when they supposedly discussed marketing opportunities that the NBA said included a third-party endorsement deal. The said deal was with Lexus, which would pay Jordan some $200,000 a year.
As noted by the report, Jordan has now left three agents in his seven seasons in the NBA, having been also previously represented by Joe Bell and Wasserman Media Group. The 27-year-old still had to pay Relativity Sports the four percent it earned when he signed a maximum deal with the Clippers worth $88 million over four years.
Ball Don't Lie notes that there have been reports that Jordan felt he was pushed toward the Dallas Mavericks, with whom he initially agreed to sign with, because of Fegan's relationship with Mavs owner Mark Cuban.
Meanwhile, in Sacramento, Vlade Divac has been named as general manager, adding to his responsibilities as vice president of basketball operations. As noted by the Associated Press, Divac was hired back in March as vice president of basketball and franchise operations.
The team also announced Monday that Mike Bratz will be taking the post of assistant general manager; Roland Beech will serve as vice president of basketball strategy and former Kings All-Star Peja Stojakovic will be assuming director of player personnel and development duties.
