NBA News 2015 : LaMarcus Aldridge ‘Mentally Drained’ by Free Agency, Adjusting to Life in San Antonio

LaMarcus Aldridge was one of, if not the, most sough-after free agents this offseason, with almost all of the teams with cap space to throw at the max player pitching offers to the All-Star forward. And while he finds himself on a team that is projected to be one of the early title favorites, his decision to leave the Portland Trail Blazers to join the San Antonio Spurs has taken a toll on the 30-year-old.

As noted by an ExpressNews.com report, Aldridge said that he has spent most of the summer recovering from the stressful free agency stretch that left him "mentally drained."

"I don't like change," Aldridge said Saturday during an appearance at the George Gervin Academy. "That's been a little bit difficult for me, trying to get used to a new city. I got lost like twice yesterday. That's not fun."

Aldridge was drafted in 2006 as a 21-year-old by the Chicago Bulls, and was then immediately traded to the Blazers where he spent the first nine seasons of his career.

"I don't know where to go, I don't know where anything is. It's like being a rookie all over again," he said. "In the end, it should be great for me. Right now, it's been tough because everything is so new."

The midrange specialist said he has also spent a lot of time during the summer consuming a lot of the Spurs' game film, trying to visualize how he fits into the vaunted system crafted by Gregg Popovich.

"I see a lot of easy shots. Pop is really good at misdirection, and the team is so unselfish that the ball moves around," he shared.

Chimed in new teammate Danny Green, "Our game is not as much Xs and Os as people think. It's just playing in the flow of the game. He's going to make it a lot easier on us.
