NBA Free Agency 2015 News: The Latest Updates on the League's Dealings
With the biggest names already agreeing to terms with their respective teams, here are the latest updates on the wheeling and dealing of the NBA free agency.
The Washington Wizards have agreed to a one-year deal worth $4 million with guard Alan Anderson. He averaged 7.4 points per game last season for the Brooklyn Nets, and ramped up those numbers to 11 per during the first round of the playoffs.
Forward Jason Smith has agreed to a deal with the Orlando Magic. The deal is reportedly for one year and $4.5 million, according to ESPN. He played in all 82 games for the New York Knicks last season averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds.
Wesley Johnson will be staying in Los Angeles, but will be playing for the Clippers as the Orange County Register reports that the forward has agreed to sign for one-year at the veteran's minimum. Johnson averaged a career-best 9.9 points per game last season for the Lakers.
In Chicago, Aaron Brooks has agreed to return to the Bulls for one more year, as reported by ESPN. The 30-year-old averaged 11.6 points and 3.2 assists as a backup point guard for Chicago.
Charlie Villanueva will also be back in Dallas as the Mavericks have reportedly agreed to bring him back for the veteran's minimum for one more year. The forward averaged 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in just under 11 minutes per game last season.
Beno Udrih likewise returns to his team next season, with the Memphis Grizzlies picking up his contract worth $2.2 million. Udrih averaged 7.7 points and 2.8 assists last season and stepped up big when Mike Conley went out with injuries.
In Minnesota, Kevin Garnett has agreed to play for at least one more season for the Timberwolves. He is expected to take on more of a coaching role than a player, according to CBSSports.com. The Timberwolves have a young core in place with Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, Slam Dunk champion Zach LaVine, and 2015 No. 1 overall pick Karl Towns.
