NBA Draft 2015 News: Dwyane Wade, Monta Ellis, & Damian Lillard Reach Deals

A trio of explosive guards reportedly agreed to new deals, albeit to varying degrees of perceived satisfaction for the respective players. Dwyane Wade agreed to a one year, $20 million contract with the Miami Heat, Monta Ellis to a four-year, $44 million deal with the Indiana Pacers, and Damian Lillard reportedly coming to terms with a contract extension worth between $125-$129 million for five years.

The negotiations between Wade and the Heat have been under the microscope after Wade had made known he was looking for bigger money, and a longer deal. The Heat wanted Wade to opt in to the final year of his contract that would pay him around $16 million next season, so they could pursue other big named free agents.

"This contract is a win-win for both Dwyane and the Heat," said Wade's agent, Henry Thomas. Not only does Dwyane get to extend his Hall of Fame-worthy career with the only franchise for whom he has ever played, but he will have the flexibility next summer to sign an additional deal. And the Heat gets to keep their franchise cornerstone while having the ability to build a championship-contending team."

In Indiana, the Pacers got the scoring guard they badly needed, a player that fit the faster tempo Pacers president Larry Bird wants them to play with, while Ellis found a welcoming home for his talents, and got the $44 million figure he preferred.

"Larry spoke about a bit of an up-tempo style and how Monta really would fit in perfectly with the players they have," Ellis' agent Jeff Fried said. "Larry also spoke a lot about how he gets Monta, how he understands, he cares, he's passionate. Larry understands that type of athlete."

While in Portland, amid the uncertainty of free agent LaMarcus Aldridge's future, two-time All-Star Lillard's agent Aaron Goodwin told Yahoo Sports that his client has agreed to a five-year extension. The exact figures of the extension will depend on the amount of the NBA salary cap next season.

"I'm just thankful man," Lillard told Yahoo Sports. "I play the game out of love, and it's inspiring to be rewarded for doing things the right way and being a high-character person. It's also comforting knowing that none of what I've accomplished has been handed to me."
