NBA 2015 Trade News: Reggie Jackson, Rajon Rondo Agree to Deals with Pistons, Kings

Detroit Pistons president and head coach Stan Van Gundy had expressed his intention to fully commit to guard Reggie Jackson as one of the franchise's foundations, and recently he made good on that by agreeing to sign the scoring guard to a five-year, $80 million extension.

As a restricted free agent, Jackson did not pursue offer sheets on the market and instead focused on working out a deal with the Pistons, as pointed out by a Yahoo Sports report.

The Pistons acquired Jackson from the Oklahoma City Thunder back in February, and averaged 17.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 9.2 assists in 27 games with Detroit. After serving as a backup for Russell Westbrook in three-plus seasons with the Thunder, Jackson had openly expressed his desire to run his own team as a starting point guard. The long-term deal puts the Pistons in position to try and potentially move Brandon Jennings who is trying to recover from a torn Achilles.

Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have reached an agreement with Rajon Rondo for a one-year, $10 million contract.

Rondo is coming off a troublesome stint with the Dallas Mavericks, where he struggled to fit in to the Mavs' flowing scheme of ball movement and floor spacing. He eventually left the team in the middle of their first round series against the Houston Rockets with what was called a back injury.

The 29-year-old averaged 9.3 points, 6.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 46 games with the Mavs following the midseason trade back in December.

The Kings have also satisfied Rondo's request for a shooter, reaching an agreement with Marco Belinelli, who is a former NBA three-point contest winner, and is a career 39.2 percent shooter from deep.

The Kings tried and failed to sign Monta Ellis and Wesley Matthews during free agency. They are also in the middle of a tricky situation between All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins and head coach George Karl.
