After being found with a handgun in his carry-on bag, Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard was detained at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston last Aug. 28. According to the CBSSports report, Howard claimed ownership of the gun and was permitted to give the handgun to an associate.

The district attorney's office declined to press charges against the former Defensive Player of the Year after being informed of Howard's detainment, according to Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith. Howard was then allowed to board a later flight.

As noted by CBSSports report, Howard was stopped at Terminal E at 7 a.m. when TSA officials discovered a pistol in the bottom of the carry-on bag. The Rockets star admitted to owning the gun and after being detained, was allowed to give the handgun to an associate.

Smith noted that few files or charges have been made at either of Houston's two main airports when firearms are found.
