Nathan Fillion News: Actor Interested in Portraying Booster Gold Character
In Hollywood's insurgence for superhero adaptations, it appears that everyone is attempting to get a slice of the pie. The industry is the most lucrative it has ever been with movies such as 'The Avengers' making room for highly enjoyable films for all types of audiences.
In a recent panel at the 2015 Wizard World Comic Con Chicago, 'Firefly' actor Nathan Fillion expressed his interest for portraying the Booster Gold character.
"I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold," Fillion said to fan applause. "That's kind of my niche - show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that - not too bright."
The character has appeared once in live action form in the 'Smallville' series.
"Booster Gold, born Michael Jon Carter, is a DC character from the distant future. His football career crumbled when he was caught betting on his own games. Hungry for fame, he hijacked a power suit and traveled back in time, using his knowledge of the future to turn himself into a superhero celebrity. Equipped with advanced technology that grants him superhuman abilities, he eventually becomes a defender of the time stream," writes EW.
Fillion has gained a lot of traction with the comic book fan base due to his work behind the scenes in some popular projects. He voiced the Green Lantern in both Justice League films 'Doom' and 'Throne of Atlantis,' and he also had a minor role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy.'
For a second choice Fillion put his bid in for the obscure character Ambush Bug.
"Remember that guy? Little bit off his rocker," he said. "You'd never see my face." The actor finished his response by adding, "But I think Greatest American Hero is due for a reboot."
