Natalie Portman New Movie News: Actress to Star as Jacqueline Kennedy in 'Jackie'

Natalie Portman is all set to star as Jackie Kennedy in a movie titled, "Jackie,' according to a report by Variety.

The movie will revolve around the days immediately after the assassination of the then President, John. F. Kennedy. The movie will be produced by Darren Aronofsky and directed by Pablo Larrain. The production of the movie is set to begin by the end of 2015.

According to Variety, "'Jackie' talks about the days when Jackie Kennedy becomes an icon but has lost everything."

Larraín's film is expected to center on Kennedy's courage in the four days following her husband's assassination in Dallas on 22 November 1963, which won her admiration from Americans and people worldwide, according to the Guardian.

According to the Daily Mail, the news of this project is not entirely new. This is not a sudden move however, as Natalie reportedly showed interest in the project in 2012.

Prior to this, the character of Jackie has been played by Katie Holmes, in the 2011 Reelz movie "The Kennedys,' and by Jaclyn Smith in ABC's 1981 television movie Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Jacqueline Bisset played Kennedy in the 1978 film The Greek Tycoon.

In other news, Portman is currently, in Cannes presenting her directorial debut, the Hebrew-language film "A Tale of Love and Darkness.'

Also, just last week, Portman on to another biopic, which revolves around the Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, titled "On The Basis Of Sex.'
