'Nashville' Season 5 News: CMT Collaborates With ABC Studios, Hulu To Continue Series

Following ABC's cancellation of the hit musical drama series, "Nashville" will have its new home on CMT.

The series first aired on its original home network in 2012. However, ABC decided to cancel the series despite the success of its first four seasons. While the decision initially disappointed fans, ABC still has good news for Hayden Patettiere and Connie Britton's fans.

The network recently announced that CMT will collaborate with ABC Studios and Hulu to ensure that the show will continue even after ABC's cancellation. Moreover, the upcoming installment will have "Thirtysomethings" creators Ed Zwich and Marshall Herskovitz as its new showrunners.

In a statement, CMT President Brian Philips said that "Nashville" season 5 will be an excellent fit in their roster of shows.

"CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for 'Nashville' has been overwhelming," he said.

"Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving lineup of big music specials, documentaries and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we treasure it like no other network. 'Nashville' belongs on CMT," he added.

Meanwhile, ABC Studios executive vice president Patrick Moran also shared his thoughts on "Nashville's" renewal on CMT network.

"We always had faith that we would find a way to bring 'Nashville' back to its devoted fans. We're very proud to be in partnership with CMT and Hulu to extend the life of this series," he said.

For the upcoming season, Hayden Patettiere and Connie Britton are expected to reprise their roles as Juliette and Rayna, respectively. However, there are speculations that the production team will have to downsize its cast due to budget constraints.
