'Nashville' Season 5 Air Date, Premiere, Cast News: Trailer Unveils Hayden Panettiere's Return As Juliette Barnes?

The new trailer for "Nashville" season 5 confirms the return of Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes.

The one-minute dramatic trailer opens with Rayna James turning her head slowly to the direction of the camera, eyes wide open. "We all break. That's what makes us humans," she says.

"We tape ourselves together so that no one can see our flawed hearts," Juliette adds, showing the same mood and drama as Rayna.

"But not all who break are broken. Sometimes you have to break your own heart to put the pieces back in the right place," says Scarlett O'Connor, played by Clare Bowen.

Deacon Claybourne then opines, "I've left a trail of destruction, hurt people I've loved, let down the people who love me."

Filled with drama and featuring a wide range of emotions, the trailer is basically about passion, anger, pain and joy. And if there is one thing that all the characters in the video can agree on, it is the fact that music is their only escape. Towards the end of the video, Will Lexington declares, "And if my choices have made me, it's music that saves me."

Contrary to previous reports, the new season features more songs than drama. According to showrunner Marshall Herskovitz, season 5 features shorter scripts and more music.

"The first thing we mandated was shorter scripts, so there's time for the music to play out," he said. He also revealed that more styles and genres of music other than country music will be introduced next season.

"Nashville" season 5 premieres on January 5, 9:00 P.M. on CMT.
