'Nashville' Season 3 Recap: 'I've Got Reasons To Hate You' Episode 12 Showcases Rayna
Rayna cannot muster what it takes to perform at the Bluebird. The picture of her and Deacon together leaves her shaken and too upset to go on with the show.
This week's episode, "I've Got Reasons To Hate You," found Rayna's return to the stage stalled. Between her personal feelings and the fever pitch speculation over the cause of their split has her wanting to stay out of sight.
Once she canceled their wedding, Rayna realized that Luke was going to be a problem for her. When she broke the news of the broken engagement to her daughters who also took the news rather poorly.
At least someone is moderately happy on the show; Juliette and Avery seemed to be settling into married life without too many potholes.
The rest of the characters were found in dismal situations, as Gunnar geared up for a custody battle over Micah.
Deacon received Sadie tries to take control of her problems with her ex by buying a gun, and Deacon gets dreadful health news, and Sadie buys a gun. Deacon goes to an AA meeting where he reveals his condition to the members at the meeting. He is battling aggressive liver cancer.
He blames himself and his history of alcohol abuse. He seems determined to beat the illness, but not before understandably wallowing in profound sadness with the group.
The situation goes even further off the rails when Beverley arrives to get a test for a liver transplant. She lies about being a match and Scarlett sees red before the event is over.
At the end of the episode, Teddy finds that he's being blackmailed into singing over his connections to Maddie's career in music to Edgehill.
The paternity issue could pose a problem, but Rayna may reveal that Teddy isn't Maddie's father and cannot sign on her behalf. She may nullify the contract purposefully by revealing Maddie's patronage.
"Nashville," is all new on Feb. 18, 2015 with the new episode "I'm Lost Between Right or Wrong" on ABC.
