‘Nashville’ News: Series Syndication Likely to Boost the ABC Country Music Drama’s Ratings
Fans of 'Nashville' will be delighted to know that they will soon be able find their favorite country music television drama easily, as it will be in syndication on AXS TV.
IB Times reports that Charles Esten, who portrays the character of Rayna's (Connie Britton) love interest Deacon, recently told fans that in addition to watching the new episodes of 'Nashville' on ABC, they will soon be able to watch the reruns of the show on AXS TV. He further said that recently the network made him record a video for making this announcement on Twitter.
According to the report, having been launch in July 2012, AXS TV is a relatively new network and most of the programs of this network are music-based. Its programs include reruns of 'X-Factor UK' as well as original shows such as 'The World's Greatest Tribute Band.' While AXS TV has not disclosed the specific dates and timings, the network will start airing 'Nashville' reruns in the fall.
With the airing of 'Nashville' reruns, AXS TV is expecting to bring in new as well as old fans of the musical television show. AXS TV CEO Mark Cuban recently issued a press release saying, "With its talented cast, dramatic storylines and powerful performances from industry icons and rising stars, we are confident that 'Nashville' will connect with our viewers, while attracting a new audience of those who may have missed out on watching from the beginning of the series." Cuban added, "This will also be a great opportunity for its devoted fan base to experience 'Nashville' all over again."
Observers believe that syndication may prove to be a very big deal for 'Nashville.' According to The Hollywood Reporter, reruns of 'The Big Bang Theory' helped the ratings of the show go up. Often, 'Nashville' is often regarded to be an "on the bubble" show. In other words, fans never know if ABC will be renewing or cancelling the show at the end of the year. Syndication of 'Nashville' may possibly boost the ratings of the county music drama, which it desperately needs.
Interestingly enough, even showrunner Dee Johnson said she was not whether the show would be renewed when she wrote Deacon's "life-or-death" cliffhanger at the end of Season 3. Last month, Johnson told TV fantastic, "I had a pretty good feeling about it but you know in this business you cannot just float about in a bubble of everything's going to work out as we want." Johnson further said, "You always have a little bit of nail biting somewhere."
It is expected that the latest move will help draw new viewers to the show, while longtime fans will also get an opportunity to relive the series from the beginning.
'Nashville' reruns start on AXS TV in the fall and Season 4, which will premiere at 10 p.m. EDT on Sept. 23 on ABC.
