The previous episode of "Naruto Shippuden" followed the heroes as they dealt with their own share of challenges, as well as the ninja community as they went up against the almighty Kaguya.

In the episode, Kaguya kept Naruto and Sasuke apart so she could take down Naruto easily. However, Sakura and Obito came in and managed to help Sasuke return to the realm where Naruto and Kaguya were having a battle. As they reached the dimension, Kaguya made some changes in the realm again by amplifying its gravity. The amplification almost led to the immobilization of the heroes, but it was not enough to stop them completely.

In their attempt to take down Kaguya, Naruto and Sasuke almost got themselves killed. However, Kakashi and Obito came to their rescue. Obito came first before Kakashi, so he managed to save him from Kaguya's rod using his Kamui. Unfortunately, he failed to repel the rod coming his way. The scene where episode 471 ended makes fans of the manga wonder if the upcoming episode will see the death of Kakashi's long-time best friend.

Spoilers suggest that considering the history of the series in extending its story arcs and expounding the history of its characters who are about to die, episode 472 may feature more of Obito. If the series will follow the manga, it is possible that the upcoming episode will follow Obito as he tells Rin that he cannot leave just yet. He may die, but he will return to tell Kakashi that he is the sixth Hokage, and then give him his Sharingan as his parting gift.

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 472 is released on August 18.
