Episode 465 of "Naruto Shippuden" shifts its focus from the rolling fight between Kaguya and both Naruto and Sasuke to the narration of the origin stories, so as to shed light on how and why the ninja battles started.

For the past few episodes, the focus of the widely-acclaimed series has been on the story of Kaguya, as well as the stories of Hagoromo and Hamura. As the series went on telling their tales, the fight between Kaguya and Naruto and Sasuke breezed in. In the upcoming episode, viewers will take a break from this fight to get to discover the truth behind the rift between Asura and Indra.

Episode 465 explores the lives of the two ancestors whose falling-out brought forth the bitter feud between the Senju and Uchiha clans. The past will be unveiled as the episode features Hagoromo's deathbed scene, where he chose Indra over Ashura as his true successor.

Spoilers for the episode say that Indra could not accept his father's decision since he is older than Ashura and thus has the throne of his father as his birthright. Hagoromo reportedly chose Ashura because of his love for peace, which Indra did not have. While the two brothers died fighting for the throne, their respective posterities eventually became the fathers of the Senju and Uchiha clans. The long-standing war between the two clans is considered as one of the most prominent wars in the history of the manga series.

Both Ashura and Indira have been frequently mentioned in the series but have not made any actual appearance on the show. Since episode 465 reveals their origin stories, fans expect the characters of the two ancestors to officially debut in episode 466.
