'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date, Plot, Premiere News: Upcoming Series Continues After Pablo Escobar's Death

The release date for "Narcos" Season 2 has been the center of media attention but according to the latest news, the upcoming episode will continue where they left off despite Pablo Escobar's death.

The initial release for the crime-thriller was supposed to be in August, notes Ecumenical News. However, executive producers Chris Bernard and Doug Mira have not made any confirmations yet.

So far, Slash Film was able to gather information regarding the next season. Showrunner Eric Newman reportedly said that the series will still cover Escobar's demise.

"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show..." Newman explained. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live."

He added that the man's death cannot be taken back nor can be changed that is why the "story was always designed to have an ending." But he assured the fans that the show will still run because drugs did not end on Escobar at all.

"I haven't thought that much about where do we go from here. I just want the best version of season two," he added."Narcos" is about Pablo Escobar and his life as a Columbian rogue that lasted for 15 years.

Hailed as the "King of Cocaine", the drug lord was able to smuggle 80 percent of cocaine supply in the United States during the verge of his illegal career. He was shot dead by the Colombian National Police in 1993, 18 months after he escaped behind bars.
