'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date, News, Rumors: Series To Premiere In Quarter Three; Features Pablo Escobar's Death?
In line with Netflix's upcoming "Narcos" season 2, it is revealed that its premiere date is in the third quarter of this year. Also, the second season of the series is set to feature Pablo Escobar's death on the exact roof where he died in real life.
According to Cross Map, "Narcos" season 2 is rumored to air in August this year, even though Netflix has not announced an official air date for the series. As per the publication, if the series failed to air in the said month in the third quarter of the year, it could be delayed to a latter month within the year.
In other news, "Narcos" season 2 is set to show the death of real-life drug king pin Pablo Escobar, according to series producer Eric Newman. In his interview with Slash Film (via Cross Map), Newman revealed that they wanted to stick to Escobar's real life accounts.
Newman said that if they could find a way to keep Escobar alive and keep Wagner, who plays Escobar in the film, he would die. The series producer added that there were any number of things that could happen after, adding that they have not committed to one or the other. For Newman, there were a lot of other stories in this world that continue on beyond him.
With his last statement, it is assumed that the events after Escobar's death could be the center of a potential "Narcos" season 3. Rumors say that the second season could be the last "Narcos" season, since series original showrunner Adam Fierro already left the show even prior to the conclusion of "Narcos" season 1.
"Narcos" season 2 is trying to focus on remaining faithful to Escobar's real life events, as production aims to recreate the drug lord's death. As per TMZ, the network originally considered shooting Escobar's death scene on the actual rooftop where he had supposedly died. According to the publication, the network secured the house tenant's permission for filming.
"Narcos" season 2 is expected to premiere in August on Netflix.
