'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date: Netflix May Damatize, Prolong Escobar's Hiding?

As history foretells, Pablo Escobar's life in the biographical crime drama, "Narcos" is about to turn upside. Behind the scenes, the production team of the Netflix Latin drama is also experiencing a shake up.

Following the show's first season, co-creator and executive producer Chris Brancato left the show for a project with ABC Studios. Netflix brought in Adam Fierro to continue the show. Unfortunately, the stay of Narcos' new showrunner was brief. Reports claim that Fierro has stepped down.

Abandoned by two showrunners in a short time, the future of the "Narcos" is looking foggy. Viewers are worried that the drama about the Colombian drug cartel might deviate from its Aug. 2016 release date.

Meanwhile, LatinPost reports that Fierro had carried out most of the obligations under his contract. This may be the reason why Netflix may run the second season without a showrunner.

The show is now left completely in the hands of writer and producers, Jose Padilha and Eric Newman. The new executive producers will team up with other writers for the sophomore season.

If all goes well, the second season may just equal season one's stellar number of viewers and various accolades such as two Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series - Drama and Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series - Drama for Wagner Moura.

Although Netflix is keeping the storyline in the wraps, history gives us a clue to the future events in the series shot in Colombia. Following Escobar's escape from La Cathedral, he lives for a year before he was gunned down.

If the show sticks to actual historical event, the "Narcos" might end on its second or third season. Netflix might dramatize and prolong Escobar's hiding, reports Christian Today.

"Narcos" is based on the life of a notorious drug kingpin who became a billionaire through the production and distribution of cocaine.
