MWC 2015 Smartwatch Releases: LG & Huawei Unveil New Android Wearable Devices to Compete with Apple Watch
South Korean tech manufacturer LG Electronics and Chinese smartphone company Huawei unveiled their respective new smartwatches on the opening day of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday. Contrary to many existing smartwatches, the devices launched by these tech firms have classic, elegant designs and they intend to put up some stiff competition with the Apple Watch.
According to Christian Today, LG Electronics unveiled its premium LG Urbane smartwatch, which is the third, but most impressive wearable device from the South Korean tech giant. The LG Urbane comes with a classic style and looks owing to its metal body, swappable stitched leather strap and is just 22 mm thin.
The standard LG Urbane has a round 1.3-inch P-OLED screen, rendering 320 x 320 resolution at 245 ppi. The smartwatch is powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and comes with 512 MB RAM as well as 4 GB internal storage. It is powered by a 419 mAh battery. The second version LG Urbane LTE possesses similar specs, while the RAM is increased to 1 GB, in addition to an improved connectivity. Users of this version of LG Urbane are able to connect via LTE, WiFi, as well as NFC.
Meanwhile, Huawei too has ventured into the wearable business with the launch of its maiden smartwatch called the Huawei Watch. Similar to LG, Huawei has also given its smartwatch a classical look, rather than that of a gadget. The specs of Huawei Watch too are similar to those of the LG Urbane standard version, but are somewhat thicker, measuring 42 mm. The Huawei Watch is available in three different colors - gold, black, silver, and comes in different designs both men and women.
On a side note, both the LG Urbane as well as Huawei Watch run with the Android Wear.
