Murder in the First Season 2 Renewed or Canceled? TNT Confirms 10 More Episodes

'Murder in the First', TNT's ten episode Summer drama, has been confirmed for a second season.

The Steven Bocho produced series will be receiving ten additional episodes in an attempt to maintain their recorded high viewership. While the final episode in Season 1 aired over a month ago, only recently has news broke about the renewal.

Season 1 averaged 4.7 million viewers in terms of live & seven day ratings, 1.3 million of them were adults age 25 to 54. Evidently, the producers for 'Murder in the First' will try to maintain or surpass those numbers when the show returns on TNT for Season 2.

However, the series has not been given a release date yet, so fans will have to sit tight and wait for news before they mark their calendars.

In regards to the cast of MITF Season 2, it's still unknown whether the lead actors and actresses will reprise their roles. As fans can recall, Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson stared on the show as detectives in San Francisco.

Granted that the first season wrapped up a murder, the investigation, and its trial, many presume that Season 2 will start off with a brand new development in the series.

Before taking his leave from the network, Michael Wright told The Hollywood Reporter that TNT was planning to change up their game plan. He said,"We're in the beginning stage of a very significant pivot away from a programming approach that worked really well for a long time."

He went on to add, "We want to go after that viewer that loves great summer movies."

Evidently, 'Murder in the First' syncs up with what's in store for the TNT network changes. Only time will tell what other shifts from the norm are planned out for the long-time cable television network.

On a side note, 'Murder in the First' premiered its pilot episode on June 9, 2014.
