Muhammad Ali News: Boxing Legend Hospitalized Again, Needs Follow-Up Care
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali is back in the hospital, and this time, he needs follow-up care for a urinary tract infection that landed him there in the first place back in December, last year.
His rep said in a statement to People that famous pugilist was admitted to an undisclosed hospital. His condition is stable now and he is expected to be released on Friday.
"Ali hopes to celebrate his 73rd birthday on Saturday at home with family," the rep continued.
It also known that Ali was also in hospital at the end of last year with a mild case of pneumonia, but what the doctors first believed was untrue, as he suffered from a severe urinary tract infection.
"The Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy." the rep said.
The heavyweight champ, aged 73, suffers from Parkinson's disease. He was diagnosed with this syndrome in 1984, after his retirement.
The famous pugilist did not stop to travel the world on humanitarian missions. He also had the honor to be awarded with The Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush in 2005.
Last September, he came back to his hometown Louisville in order to attend a ceremony for the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards. One month later, on October 30th, he attended the University of Louisville's football game against Florida State.
All his fans hope the boxing legend will fight his disease, as they expect him to continue his humanitarian missions worldwide, being an example to follow.
