'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Premiere, Release Date News, Spoilers: Upcoming Season Set To Explore Elliot's Illusions of Mr. Robot?

Rami Malek is reprising his role as Elliot Alderson in the 2nd season of the hit television series "Mr. Robot."

In the season 1 finale, Elliot learned about his mental issues and realized that he had actually taken over the persona of his dead father, Mr. Robot. It also dawned on him that he was the one leading the Fsociety the whole time, and that the name of the shop that his father used to own was "Mr. Robot."

"Mr. Robot" season 1 featured actor Christian Slater as Mr. Robot, and it is going to be the same for season 2. In the upcoming season, Slater's character will continue to show himself to Elliot to direct and baffle him at the same time.

Recently, show creator Sam Esmail teased that season 2 will fill in the blanks of both the past and the present of Elliot's character.

"There will be a lot more backstory that will be shown, the timeline will get a little clearer--not 100 percent clear, because where's the fun in that? But a little clearer--it really is about Elliot trying to reconcile what this means in seeing Mr. Robot. The series is filling in the blanks of the past and the present of this character. It's about a guy who becomes aware of this delusion he's been having," he said.

He also teased that although the Fsociety was able to take down Evil Corp in season 1, Evil Corp is just one of the various enemies at play. Fans will get to see more of these adversaries in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that actress Frankie Shaw will reprise her role as Shayla Nico, the ex-flame of Elliot. There are speculations that although his character was already killed off in season 1, she will reappear in season 2 as an illusion of Elliot as he strives to divest himself of his deceased father's constant bugging.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 premieres on July 13 on USA Network.
