Movie Sequels 2016: What To Expect In The Big Screen
With 2016 starting off, it is assumed that fans are excited to begin the year with a list of anticipated film sequels.
Po is set to see face two different threats - one supernatural and one closer to his home - in Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh's "Kung Fu Panda 3." According to International Business Times, Po will also train a team to defeat the big bad, Kai. The film premieres on Jan. 29.
Derek and Hansel will be modelling for the second time around when a rival company makes a move to eliminate the other business in Ben Stiller's "Zoolander 2," which hits theaters on Feb. 12.
Based on Veronica Roth's young adult novels, Tris and Four are set to discover the world beyond the fence and meet the mysterious agency known as Bureau of Genetic Welfare in Robert Schwentke's "The Divergent Series: Allegiant," which is set to premiere in theaters on Mar. 18.
In DC's Cinematic Universe, Batman and Superman are set to clash and pave the way to the rise of the Justice League, along with Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The film hits theaters on Mar. 25.
Following the film "Snow White and the Huntsman," the Huntsman is set to return, along with the two evil sisters as the latter prepares to conquer the land, in Cedric Nicolas-Troyan's "The Huntsman Winter's War," which premieres on Apr. 22.
After the "Winter's War," another war takes place in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, with Captain America and Iron Man clashing, along with their separate factions, in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War." The film hits theaters on May 6.
Another Marvel Comics film by Fox is set to feature Professor X and the rest of the mutants as they fight the ancient mutant Apocalypse, who want to get rid of humanity with his massive destruction in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," which is set to premiere on May 27.
Along with superhero combat, fans will also be transported to the magical world of Wonderland and travel back in time to rescue the Mad Hatter in James Bobin's "Alice Through the Looking Glass," which premieres on May 27.
The young audience will see Dory and her friends, with the blue tang fish reuniting with her loved ones in Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane's "Finding Dory," which hits theaters on June 17.
According to MTV, Kirk and Spock are set to fight a villain played by "Fast and Furious" actor Idris Elba in Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond," which is set to premiere on July 22.
Kate Beckinsale reprises her role as Selene, along with Theo James' David in Anna Foerster's "Underworld 5," which premieres on Oct. 21.
A year following J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," Felicity Jones is set to play the leader of rebels set out on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The film serves as a sequel to "Star Wars: Episode III" and a prequel to "Star Wars: Episode IV." It hits theaters on Dec. 16.
