Motorola Moto X launched late in 2015

Two months after hinting that the Motorola brand is dead, Lenovo may be working on the new flagship, called Moto X3, and the rumors allege that it's going to retain the batwing icon, but with the name "Motorola" nowhere to be found.

Android Central pointed to a report from the Indian import/export website, Zauba, that the Moto X3 will be rolled out in the US although the release date is still unknown.

"With Lenovo restructuring its mobile division, it is likely the upcoming Moto X3 will be the first device to feature the 'Moto by Lenovo' branding," it said.

According to the same report, the rumored price for the Moto X3 will be a little over $100. Not much is known about the specs either, only that it would feature a five-inch screen and will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset along with a metal unibody style.

Lenovo bought Motorola from Google back in 2014 for almost $3 billion, but only after the tech giant harvested most of the patents, even if that meant that Google lost money on its $12 billion purchase of the company in 2012.

There are various rumors pointing to a 2016 release date for the Moto X3, according to International Business Times, although there's really no confirmation from Lenovo if any of the rumors are true.

The initial rumors about the Moto X3 started back in December last year.

"Since the rear panel seems to house a large circular cutout for the main shooter, it is expected to arrive with an upgraded camera along with a dual-tone flash," the site reported.
