Moto X Pure Edition: Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Coming Soon

Following market trends and responding to consumer demands, Motorola recently announced an update to the operating system of its Moto X Pure Edition to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Subscribers with the Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular networks will be able to update their mobile phone OS through the over-the-air (OTA) software update system.

Motorola's decision to upgrade is a strategic business move that is intended to make the company more competitive or at least at par with other smartphone brands.

Many other Android smartphone manufacturers are also planning to introduce OS updates on their Android phone devices. LG, for instance, recently released the OS update for its G4 handsets that are distributed in Europe. It is also rumored that similar updates for the G4 will be made available in the U.S. market soon.

There really seems to be a frenzy of OS updates for the various leading Android smartphone brands. The Moto X Pure Edition Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is just one of many recent updates.

HTC is also heading in the same direction. HTC has recently announced that it will also be updating its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its HTC M9 smartphone. According to an official statement by the company, the update is still on target.

The senior director of software product management at Motorola, David Schuster, recently confirmed the Moto X Pure Edition Android update. He posted the statement to his Google+ page. He also later edited the announcement to also include AT&T Moto X Pure Edition.

The OS update will include additional features like the "Doze Mode" and the "Now on Tap," which displays information pertinent to the user's current activities on mobile.
