Moto X 2016 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Device Gets Different Name; Set For Summer Release?

It has been confirmed that the name of Moto X 2016 has been changed to Moto Z and Moto Z Droid. The device will also reportedly have a summer release date, according to the initial rumors.

According to the report, Verizon, Best Buy and the Motorola stores will be selling the Moto X 2016 in a few weeks' time. As for the rest of the world, however, they can get their hands on the device in September this year.

As to the specs of the Moto X, Know Your Mobile said that at 5.2mm, the 2016 model will be one of the thinnest devices on the market. It's going to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 4 GB of RAM, and a choice between a 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage. And all these circuitry will be protected by the aircraft-grade aluminum stainless case.

The other specs include a 13-MP camera and a 5-MP front snapper (with wide-angle capability), a fingerprint scanner like the iPhone and S7, the battery is a respectable 2,600mAh with fast-charging capability. According to the rumors, a 15-minute charge will already give eight hours of use.

There are also rumors that the Moto X 2016 will feature some interchangeable parts, which are called MotoMods, such as the camera module, projector and extended battery.

However, there's no specific release date for the Moto X 2016 (although rumors claimed that it's going to be on June 9), nor is there any indication about its retail price. Definitely, however, it's not in the level of the iPhone 6S or the Samsung Galaxy S7.
