Moto 360 2nd-Gen News: Will Motorola’s New Smartwatch Come in Two Variants?
The launch of Moto 360, Motorola's first Android Wear smartwatch, over a year ago virtually revolutionized the wearable device industry. According to latest reports, Motorola is now gearing up to roll out an improved and refurbished smartwatch, which has been dubbed by many as the 2n- gen Moto 360.
A report in Christian Today states that while Motorola has maintained complete secrecy regarding the development of the 2nd-gen Moto 360, there are still unintentional slips that offer the fans a quick sneak peek at the upcoming smartwatch. Very recently, a short video clip from Motorola's social media channels offered viewers a quick look at what could be the new Moto 360, as there were important design changes from the original smartwatch. Realizing the blunder, Motorola has already removed the video.
In the meantime, speculations are rife that the new Moto 360 may come in two variants. Tech industry observer website 9to5Google points out that documentation from Brazil's Anatel reveals application for two Motorola products code named 360S and 360L. Keep in view the wide range of product lineups of Motorola; it is very likely that the applications are for other products. Nevertheless, technical specs for the two devices indicate that the upcoming products will have radio connectivity; and especially, their battery capacities are listed as 270 mAh power for the 360S model and a larger 375 mAh capacity for the 360L model. Hence, it is believed that they indicate that these products are smartwatches.
For the uninitiated, Anatel regulates radio and telecoms activities in Brazil. Similar to the telecoms regulating agencies in other countries, it is necessary for any product with radios on them that would be sold commercially would to undergo application and supervision from such official organizations.
Latest rumors suggest that the 2nd-gen Moto 360 may possibly appear during the IFA 2015 event in Berlin. Considering the fact that Motorola has already unveiled its smartphone flagships last month, and it will need a major lineup announcement in the annual IFA, there might be some truth to the speculations.
