NetherRealm Studios tried to keep much of its roster of fighters for their upcoming Mortal Kombat title a secret up until weeks before the game's release dates. However, the power of the Internet won again as several images of the Mortal Kombat X's story mode were leaked in a NeoGAF thread.

According to Game Rant, two screenshots of characters not yet confirmed by NetherRealm were shown. The characters were Sonya Blade, Jax Brigg, Johnny Cage and Frost. However, no context was given in regards to the image that were posted and there are no images of them actually fighting.

Other leaks and spoilers have found their way into the internet as well. IGN announced that they had an image for the blind swordsman Kenshi for the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X. The image also hinted at one of Kenshi's variation styles.

Classic characters Mileena and Shang Tsung have also been rumored to appear since a video from Game Stop was shown in stores and one customer recorded the video. The video was then released on Mortal Kombat communities "Test Your Might" and "Mortal Kombat Online." In the video, the narrator can be heard mentioning the names of Mileena and Shang Tsung along with characters Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the recently confirmed Kitana.

NetherRealm recently released its story mode trailer as well this week. Other characters rumored to appear in Mortal Kombat X are Erron Black, Sindel, Cyrax, Rain and Shinnok. The plot centers on a conflict in Outworld. Humans Cassandra Cage, Kung Jin, Takashi Takeda and Jacqueline Briggs make it their business to be a part of the conflict to make sure it doesn't spread to Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat X is set to release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on April 14, 2015.
