'Mortal Kombat X' News: Kitana's 3 Fighting Styles Showcased in New Trailer
A new trailer for NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat X made its way around the Internet on Tuesday. In it, Steve Brownback from Quality Assurance talked about his all-time favorite character, Kitana, and her new fighting styles for the latest in the series.
In the Mortal Kombat franchise, every character gets a set of three variations. Kitana's are labeled Royal Storm, Assassin, and Mournful. The Royal Storm incarnation is used for long range attacks, emphasizing a lot of defensive techniques. Kitana's square boost is used for escaping. Her famous fan weapons fly farther, making them exceptional projectiles.
The Assassin style plays more on the offensive style as it will be used for rush attacks. The dash associated with this allows her to get really close to opponents. It also lets Kitana sharpen her fans for maximum damage. The last variation, Mournful, is for Kitana's exclusive staff and boomerage. These two weapons are based on another character, Kitana's friend Jade. Both weapons give Kitana a wide variety of attacks.
According to the trailer, Brownback has been doing Q&A for NetherRealm Studios since the developer company released Injustice. He also plays competitively with the Mortal Kombat series. Brownback said, "When MK2 first came out, the first day I was there I saw Kitana and immediately she became my favorite character. She was blue. She was a ninja. But she was a warrior princess, which I've always thought that powerful female characters are cool."
Fans of Kitana and other characters eagerly wait for Mortal Kombat X, which is schedule to release on April 14 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
