'Moms' Night Out' with Sean Astin: 'This Movie will Show Men That They're Not Alone' (INTERVIEW)

Actor Sean Astin, most known for his role in the "Lord of The Rings Trilogy," plays a supportive husband in his new hilariously heartwarming film, "Moms' Night Out." Breathecast sat down with the actor for a one-on-one interview about his family, his role as a husband, and his sincere thoughts on the movie.

"This film reminds me a great deal of my life except, that in my life my wife is the stable one,"Astin laughingly admitted. The actor went on to explain why he is not.

"I'm an actor, a professional actor, I hold true to form. We are occasionally self-involved and so I am interested in my career. Focused on everything to do with travel and press, reading scripts and talking to agents and all that sort of stuff," the busy actor confessed. "And every now and then I look up from what I'm doing and I realize that there are these healthy beautiful children who all get where they're suppose to be going and they're all prepared for their classes."

He said he really enjoys the moments when his wife is strict with his three girls, or what he calls, when she lowers the "boom" because he believes she usually just "molds them like clay."

From the opening scene to the secret scene hidden at the end of the film, this movie will have the viewer laughing out of their seats at the real life scenarios portrayed in the film. "Moms' Night Out" serves as a real tribute to mothers everywhere and Astin believes his wife is a mother that definitely deserves to be honored.

Astin, appreciative of his wife, admirably said, "Most of the time she is able to lead our family from a place of quite grace."

The actor, overwhelmed by all his wife does, admitted he says thank you to her but and said, "I don't think it's enough." I don't do enough."

Now, on Mother's Day, the "Rudy" actor said he will be away from his family promoting "Moms' Night Out," he wishes to plan something great with his daughters to surprise his wife but said he is having trouble arranging it because she is always with them. "She needs a moms' night out," he declared.

Astin plays the encouraging husband of an overwhelmed stay-at-home mother raising three small children. His character encourages his on screen wife to take a much needed mom's night out. The fathers' are left in charge of the children and soon enough the peaceful moms' night out turns into havoc.

"He's a great emblem for what it can mean in modern middle class life for a husband to be supportive," Astin advised. "This movie will show men that they're not alone. Sometimes there are women who are beautiful, smart, talented, creative, responsible and all these things," but the actor said they "can be out of a certain kind of control with their feelings."

He said one of his favorite parts of the film is when Sarah Drew's character comes to the conclusion that although she had all these great things, she is "still not happy." He said his character being exasperated and realizing that he can't help her, "should resonate with men."

"The lesson learned, is to listen," he said which is "hard to do but a critical skill." Next he said, be "supportive, which doesn't mean to do everything, it mean sometimes get out of the way and make sure you're not creating problems when you're getting out of the way."

Astin stated he really enjoyed his time on the set of "Moms' Night Out." "A lot of people talk about films being a family, you go on location for three months with people, you get very close together, and then it's sad when you separate and everyone goes there own way," he explained.

This faith and family centered movie provided an atmosphere in which the actor says was safe. "The interesting thing about this is that families all came together, but there was a sense of nuclear security. Everyone was comfortable with who they are and what their family was... [So] we could interact with each other and just let that feeling of comfort pervade everything."

The movie was directed by the Erwin Brothers and produced by Kevin Downes, Jon Erwin, Andrew Erwin, and Daryl Lefever. Executive producers are Patricia Heaton and David Hunt. The film features a star cast of actors, Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), Astin and Drew (Grey's Anatomy.)
