Mobile World Congress 2016 Barcelona Recap: Giant Techs Present New Flagship Products; 5G Replaces LTE?

In line with the Mobile World Congress, various giant techs have unveiled their flagship products. Also, the event featured the 5G, the LTE's future successor.

Xiaomi presented the Mi 5 as its flagship. As per Wired, the mobile device features a 5.15-inch display, along with its main camera with 4-axis optical stabilization for latitudinal and longitudinal motor patterns. The Mi 5 also has 3GB of RAM and is available in 32GB or 64GB internal storage. The device has a pro version, which has 28GB storage and 4GB of RAM.

G5 is LG's new flagship, with the lower part can be swapped out with two available modules - the Cam Plus module, which provides a camera-style group and features physical shutter button and zoom jog, and the Hi-Fi Plus, which enhances sound quality.

Gionee unveiled its flagship, the S8, at the Mobile World Congress. Sporting a 5.5-inch display, the Gionee S8 has a thin body and it has a 3D Touch feature that provides shortcuts to various applications, similar to the iPhone 6s and some Android phones. It also features an 8-megapixel front camera with a beautification mode, along with its 16-megapixel rear camera with fast response time and laser autofocus.

Aside from the mobile devices, a new innovation called the 5G has become talk of the town at the Mobile World Congress. According to Engadget, it upholds the next era of wireless networks that out-speeds the LTE by ten times. However, LTE will not be obsolete, but it will be backwards compatible with the 5G, as per the publication. It is expected to be launched in 2018.

According to Top Tech News, the Mobile World Congress 2016 ended its five-day run in Barcelona on Feb. 26. The event gathered 100,000 participants from 2014 countries, notably with 2,200 companies across the globe. The event featured various mobile device and technology exhibits like 3D printing and virtual reality.
