Walt Disney has added new cast members to its growing ensemble for Ron Clements and John Musker's "Moana."
"Cats'" Nicole Scherzinger, "Despicable Me's" Jemaine Clement, "Big Hero 6's" Alan Tudyk, "Whale Rider's" Rachel House, and "Once Were Warriors'" Temuera Morrison are the new additions for Clements and Musker's upcoming adventure comedy film, Variety has learned.
As per the publication, Scherzinger is set to voice Moana's mother Sina, who is very supportive, but protective of her daughter. Clement voices Tamatoa, a 50-foot crab from the monster world Lalotai. Tudyk is set to voice the rooster Heihei, who gets into Moana's canoe. House will give voice to Gramma Tala, Moana's best friend who knows most of the protagonist's thoughts and feelings. Then, Morrison voices Moana's father Chief Tui, the leader of the Motunui Island.
The aforementioned stars join "Fast and Furious" star Dwayne Johnson, who voices demigod Mau, and Auili'i Cravalho, who voices the titular character, who wants to become a master wayfinder.
In line with the film's cast, Musker expressed his thoughts. In a statement, as cited by Coming Soon, Musker said that their assembled voice cast for the film was beyond their wildest dreams. He said that they were so fortunate to have such group of talented actors, many from Oceania, breathing life into their characters.
In the same interview, Clements added that they were grateful to have found such extraordinary people who did not only capture the voices of the characters, but elevated them in every way.
