'Moana' News, Release Date: NBC Releases Newest Teaser
The story of "Moana" is set to hit theaters this November, and the newest teaser for the film reveals that she is definitely not just your ordinary Disney princess.
The teaser was unveiled during the Rio Olympics coverage of NBC on Sunday night, giving Disney fans a first glimpse of Disney's first Polynesian princess. The teaser shows that Moana is a plucky princess who is even more fearless than her demigod companion.
In the promo video, Moana has been chosen by the ocean to set out on an important mission. With her adorable pet pig named Pua, she sails out on a mission to finish the unfinished voyage of her ancestors across the South Pacific. Along their way, they meet the once-mighty Maui, who joins them in traversing the sea. He also helps Moana and Pua throughout their voyage.
"We've gotta go through a whole ocean of bad," Maui tells Moana in the promo video.
"You'd be a hero. That's what you are all about, right?" Moana answers Maui, before imitating the crowd chanting Maui's name.
Things get complicated when they stumble upon the fiery villains, including Kakamora, a tiny yet ferocious creature, as well as the terrifying Lava Monster.
The musical score of the film includes tracks from Opetaia Foa'I and "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who took over the official Instagram account of Disney Animation over the weekend to celebrate the release of the upcoming Disney film.
"Moana" is set to hit theaters on Thanksgiving holiday weekend on November 23.
